Frequently Asked Questions
How much contact do your financial planners have with clients?
Our financial advisers maintain regular contact with clients to ensure their financial plans remain aligned with their goals and any changes in their circumstances. The level of engagement depends on the service package selected—whether comprehensive, standard, or passive. We’ll discuss and tailor the right level of support for you during our initial consultation.
How do you charge for financial advice?
Bottrell Wealth operates on a transparent fee-for-service model. Our fees will be disclosed upfront, and no work will commence without your agreement. In some cases, fees may be deducted from your superannuation account if appropriate.
How do your financial advisers determine the best strategy for me?
Each client’s financial situation is unique. Our financial advisers will assess your current financial position, goals, and risk appetite before making any recommendations. This ensures our advice is tailored to your individual needs and objectives.
Are your financial planners members of professional associations?
Yes. Our advisers, including Gavin Bottrell and Josephine Smith, are highly qualified professionals and members of industry-recognised organisations such as the Financial Planning Association of Australia (FPA), Chartered Accountants, and CPA Australia. We adhere to strict ethical and professional standards to provide you with the highest level of financial advice.
Can I get a second opinion on financial advice I’ve already received?
Yes. If you have previously received financial advice and want a second opinion, our team can review your existing strategy and provide independent feedback to ensure it aligns with your goals and best interests.
Do you have any conflicts of interest?
No. Our advisers operate under a fiduciary duty, meaning we are legally required to prioritise our clients’ best interests at all times. Bottrell Wealth maintains high ethical standards, and we do not recommend products or services that would create a conflict of interest.
Where do you conduct meetings?
We offer flexible meeting options, including in-person consultations at our Newcastle, Maitland and Gosford offices. For convenience, we also provide online meetings via video conferencing.
How long does an initial consultation take, and what does it cost?
Our initial consultation typically lasts between 60-90 minutes. This meeting allows us to understand your financial situation and goals, and how we can help. The consultation fee is $330 (including GST), and if you proceed with our services.
